Week of June 1st
This week we will work on writing opinions (reviews) of products/places which could possibly be posted to websites such as Yelp or Google Reviews.
We will also be beginning a short unit on introduction to fractions (parts of a whole).
Also, if you are interested in summer sessions for your child, information has been posted to the school website about how to register.

You will need your set of tens and ones.
In case you missed Monday's session, we started by discussing opinions: something that someone thinks or feels about something. Our first step was to make a list of products of which we care enough about to write an opinion. These could be restaurants, parks, books, T.V. shows, movies, toys, clothes, cleaning products, or anything else you may use as a consumer. Next, we selected a topic from our list. Then we set up our writing paper. After that, we touched and talked. Finally we quick-sketched our reasons for our opinion.
On Tuesday and Thursday we will use our fraction circles. We will also need a pencil and scissors.

Our visual arts teacher had provided this fun lesson for us to try here. Here is my attempt entitled Metal Mandala. If you send me your art, I can add it to our gallery here.
Mandala #18 Very Creative. Thank you.
Mandala #4 So colorful. Thank you.
If you were unable to join us for our writing session on Monday, we revised by adding speech balloons to our writing plan to later be used as possible dialogue additions to our text.
